National Curriculum Testing

All maintained schools, maintained special schools, academies, free schools, pupil referral units (PRUs), and participating independent schools with pupils in KS2 have a statutory responsibility for key stage 2 (KS2) national curriculum assessment testing and reporting. Due to our children’s special educational needs, they are generally disapplied from the national testing.

Overview of teacher assessment Teacher Assessment judgements in English reading, English writing and  mathematics are reported at the end of KS2. Teacher Assessment is based on a broad range of evidence from across the curriculum and knowledge of how a pupil has performed over time and in a variety of contexts. It is carried out as part of teaching and learning.
At Castle we work on a progress scale called Achievement Levels (A-Levels). Achievement levels are derived from the national curriculum in all subject areas. Pupils progress through the A-Levels ranging from A1-A14. Pupils score percentage points for each statement that they progress through.

KS2 Progress

At Castle school we have a responsibility to report the progress of our students. On this page you can find information regarding performance from the DfE website. As you are aware, due to our children’s special educational needs they will not necessarily meet the governments expected levels of progress across KS2
