Students from years 11, 12 and 13 recently completed work experience placements, both internal and external.  We are always looking for new opportunities for work experience and if you, or a business you have links with think you may be able to support us improving our work experience offer, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

In June, a group of Y10 pupils attended the Inspiring the Black Country Career and Skills Event at Dunstall Park.  We had a brilliant time, interacting with over 30 different employers and training providers and got to try lots of different potential careers - presenting for the BBC, fire alarm technician, tram driving, engineering and being a publican amongst many others.

Primary Careers Day

Primary pupils spent a whole day exploring a range of careers, from builders and artists to fire fighters and scientists.  Pupils particularly enjoyed seeing staff dressed for different jobs too, although strangely no photos were forthcoming!

Secondary Careers Morning

Secondary pupils took part in  Careers morning learning about different jobs and skills for their futures.  Juniper Training attended giving pupils awareness of alternatives to college.

Year 11, 12 and 13 recently attended the National School and College Leaver Festival.  Here we met a range of education and training providers and employers and got to try out lots of different activities and discover education and career opportunities we had never thought of before.

Money! It's a critical part of any decision around next steps and future decisions.

Whether your child is looking to stay at school or college or pursue an apprenticeship, traineeship or work experience, you need to know the costs involved, the funding that might be available and whether a wage could possibly be earned.

On Tuesday 21st June we welcomed former pupils who now attend Walsall College to hear all about their experience of moving on to college.  Years 9-13 enjoyed seeing their friends again and asked lots of insightful questions.  Thanks for coming, it was lovely to see you all!

Careers at Castle

Castle School seeks to maximise the life chances of all of our young people and so it is crucial to prepare young people for life beyond school and college. The values and principals document makes direct reference to developing:

‘Knowledge, skills and attributes they (Castle School students) need to lead successful and happy lives’

Our Objectives

To ensure that all students at the school receive a stable careers programme

  •                 To enable all students to learn from information provided by the career and labour market
  •                 The CEIAG programme should be individual and address the needs of each student
  •                 To link the curriculum learning to careers learning
  •                 To provide students with a series of encounters with employers and employees
  •                 To provide students with experiences of workplace(s)
  •                 To ensure that students have a series of encounters with further and higher education
  •                 To provide each student with the opportunity to receive personal guidance

Work Experience

Work experience opportunities are offered in Year 11 and Post 16.  We aim to offer everyone at least one opportunity for this to be an external placement and offer placements which link to pupil's career interests.

If you work in an environment where it may be possible to offer work experience opportunities, please get in touch with Mrs Bowater or Mrs Wilson.
